Commercial & Multi-Family EV Charging With Rebates That Cover Most of the Cost

Colorado businesses are getting 80% of $85,000 EV charging projects covered by rebates, and in some Xcel Energy territories, customers are paying nothing but sales tax. Most projects run $50,000–$100,000 depending on the number of stations and ports, and three separate programs — Efficiency Works, Xcel Energy, and Charge Ahead Colorado — can stack to cover the bulk of it.

Mac Electric evaluates your electrical capacity, identifies which rebates your property qualifies for, and manages the paperwork from application to payout. Whether you manage an office, retail site, apartment community, or condo complex, we get you charging stations built for real-world demand, without the cost most people expect.

Power Up Your Property With Smarter EV Charging

EV charging does more than help drivers plug in. It boosts your property’s value, strengthens your sustainability efforts, and creates an experience people notice and appreciate. It’s also a strong draw for attracting new tenants and keeping current ones happy, as EV charging becomes an expected amenity rather than a nice-to-have. We guide you through the process, choosing the right equipment and installing a system that fits your building’s needs today while preparing you for the future.

EV Charging Rebates & Incentives Available in Colorado

Which rebate applies depends on where your property is located:

  • Efficiency Works — available in Loveland, Fort Collins, Estes Park, and Longmont. Covers $1,000–$5,000 per charging port, with total incentives capped at 100% of project cost.
  • Xcel Energy — applies to most other Colorado communities. Covers $1,250–$90,000 per port depending on charger type, with higher rebates available in Disproportionately Impacted Communities (DIC).
  • Charge Ahead Colorado — applies statewide. Covers up to $7,000 per Level 2 charging port and up to $40,000 per DC fast charger, with total project funding reaching up to 80% depending on location and qualifying community status.

These programs can often be combined, which is how some of our customers have covered 80–100% of their project cost. Mac Electric identifies which programs your property qualifies for and manages the entire application and rebate process for you.

Answers to the Questions We Hear Most

Guidance from people who know EV charging.

Coverage varies by location and project scope. Many of our customers cover the majority of their costs through stacked rebates, and some in Xcel Energy territory pay nothing but sales tax. We’ll walk you through what your specific property and project could qualify for.

That’s determined by where you’re located. Efficiency Works applies to Loveland, Fort Collins, Estes Park, and Longmont. Xcel Energy applies to most other communities across Colorado. Charge Ahead Colorado applies statewide, regardless of location. We’ll identify which programs you qualify for and handle the application process so you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Yes, definitely. Many multi-family and commercial properties have tight parking layouts, and EV charging can still work well with the right planning. We look at access, space constraints, and safety clearances to design a setup that fits your lot and still gives users a smooth charging experience.

In almost every case, yes. Renters, employees, and customers increasingly expect EV charging access, and properties that offer it often see higher satisfaction and better long-term retention. Adding chargers shows your commitment to sustainability and makes your building more attractive to people looking for modern, future-ready amenities.

The process begins with an assessment and consultation, followed by pricing and contract approval. Once approved, the project is sent to our engineering team to prepare stamped designs, after which it moves into the permitting phase. Permitting timelines vary by jurisdiction and can take several weeks, but MAC will manage this process on your behalf.

After permits are issued, charging stations are ordered and construction schedules are finalized based on your preferred timeline. Construction typically starts with underground electrical work and excavation, followed by required inspections. Next, the charging equipment and electrical services are installed and inspected, after which the system is commissioned. Signage and protective equipment are then installed as needed.

Finally, we coordinate with the charging station manufacturer to complete network setup and configuration. This ensures your stations are programmed to meet your goals—whether that includes pay-to-charge options, controlled access, or customized charging fees based on local market recommendations.
